Item description from seller

185 pps. Titles: frt. & sp. Interior leaves are clean and tight. From the Africa south New Writing series. Novel about Sharpeville South Africa: this novel is by a black South African set in the apartheid era. It is a sequel to his earlier novel, "Emergency," which was set in Soweto, 30 years previously. The narrator, Andrew Dreyer, a 'coloured' teacher, is swept back into politics by the authoritarian powers of the state. The author was unfortunately murdered two weeks after the novel was completed in 1989. A powerful novel of political struggle.
