This set of encyclopedias was produced by an academic publisher that exhaustively chronicles the Antarctic, with articles about definitions and boundaries, geographical features, expeditions and explorers, climate, sea ice and treaties -- and of course, much more. Black and white illustrations such as figures, satellite images and maps. There are very few copies of these encyclopedias on the internet and our copies are both excellent copies and affordably priced. These volumes belonged to Captain Richard Campbell, OBE, of the Royal Navy. Campbell specialized in Hydrographic Surveying and worked in various regions round the world including Antarctica. He both wrote and edited publications for the Hakluyt Society. Campbell's bookplate is on the front pastedown of these volumes.
