Complete 5 volume set, all hardcovers in dust jackets. 24.5 x 17.5 cm. Jackets have text in 8 languages, though the main body of the work is in the language of figurine algebraic chess notation. Some edgewear to jackets. Rear gutter of volume B is cracked. Stamp "Printed in Yugoslavia" on front free endpaper of volume D. Jacket spine of volume E faded. Abreviated ECO, it has come to be recognized as the classification system used for openings. Volume A: Flank openings, Volume B: Semi-Open Games other than the French Defence, Volume C: Open Games and the French Defence, Volume D: Closed Games and Semi-Closed Games, Volume E: Indian Defences.
