Limited Edition: 'Of this book two hundred copies were printed for Thomas Nast Fairbanks by The Torch Press in December nineteen hundred and fifteen.' Inside the book is something I didn't see any of the other sellers referencing. It is a sort of Christmas card--as this book was a privately printed Christmas gift--from Elsie and Thomas Nast Fairbanks. It is dated Christmas 1915. I've provided a photograph. There is nothing on the other side. You can also see the covers of the book in the photos provided. They are very clean. They are in very nice condition. The gilt lettering on the spine still has a shine to it but gets a little bit lost in the white vellum. There is a little bit of color fade just off the front top edge. The book is very solidly bound. The pages are nicely tight throughout. The covers are nicely tight as well. The pages are very clean. The middle and bottom page edges are deckled or rough-cut. There are no markings in the book. There is no writing of any kind. A small bookplate on the front inside cover is the only attachment. It's the bookplate of a Mac Martin. I have listed two other William Makepeace Thackeray limited editions (The Chest of Cigars & Fairy Days) with his bookplate. He was a professor at the University of Minnesota and the 'co-founder of the Better Business Bureau. He was a nationally renowned leader in truth in advertising in the early part of this century. His greatest contribution was his leadership in the development of a self-regulatory agency in Minneapolis, through which business could police dishonesty in advertising and selling, an agency later to be internationally known as the Better Business Bureau. This first agency remains the basic model of Better Business Bureau work across the nation and internationally. Known to all as the dean of the Minneapolis advertising industry, Martin was the owner of a highly regarded advertising agency and was the author of numerous advertising campaigns that gained national attention.' He was inducted into the Advertising Hall Of Fame in 1962, four years after his passing. Seller Inventory # 005098
