Small 12mo, pp iv, 162, [2, adverts for Harvey & Darton], engraved frontispiece, bound in original black roan-backed marbled boards, a little rubbed, waterstained to frontispiece, else a good copy, SECOND EDITION, a re-issue of the London first edition of 1827, including the original adverts. Not to be confused with Elizabeth Semple's similar earlier title this one is vaguely botanical in its instructional purpose, comripising an entertaining series of dialogues for children in which serious science is largely side-lined.
