XiX pp + 338 pages with woodcut illustrations, bound in contemporary quarter crushed morocco and plain maroon cloth boards, some age browning to endpapers and several light age spots to half title, very clean, tight copy of this. Octavo. 1881. The work is furthering "antiseptic" practices with chapters on; Dusty Air + The Germ Theory of Contagious Disease + Pasteur's Parasitic Diseases of Silkworms further researched + Infusion of various meats plants and animals and bacterial infections, putrefaction of organisms and its bearing on medicine, etc. He had already developed his 1877 work on "Fractional Sterilization" (later called Tyndallisation), this work furthers the field of bacteriology.
