With a preface by the Rev. George Bush. Evans 24252. Oxford DNB, Leslie Stephen; K.D. Reynolds, "Dymond, Jonathan (1796 1828)". The Oxford DNB characterizes this book as his "chief publication", published posthumously in 1829. Robert Southey, the famous Quaker activist, wrote a positive review of Dymond's book. Dymond's treatise here explores different ethical theories and criticizes utilitarianism. In the Quaker tradition, Dymond's book is vehemently anti-war. Dymond's work is difficult to find in any edition. Withdrawn from the Trinity College Library with an 1862 bookplate on the front pastedown and a small scrap of paper on the rear free endpaper, no other library markings whatsoever. The front joint heavily rubbed.
