About this Item
Large 8vo. Pp. xvi, 243, followed by several page of ads germane to printing and supplies. Foreword by Martin Hardie. Title page vignette. Amply illustrated with many examples of historic genres and milieux, methods, subject matter, etc. Bibliography. Index. Bound in half-brown cloth over paper-covered boards, heavily-stamped gilt lettering on spine. Slight wear to edges of cover, front hinge starting with binding beginning to crack. Despite detracting qualities, the book remains well bound and sturdy. From the technical aspects of printmaking to biographies and analyses of lauded (and less known) printmakers to the mounting and care of prints, the book is a handy reference for the student of print history. Includes reference to William Strang, one of our faves, along with the usual suspects and, happily, some obscure practitioners. Seller Inventory # 1645
