No foxing or odor. Former owners name neatly written in fine point fountain pen on the title page of each volume. Front hinge on volume one is a bit loose and top two inches of the paper and webbing has split on the interior. Black endpapers. Burgandy color, embossed boards with bright gold lettering on the spines. Volume I has a 1/4" splash of, perhaps, tea near the fore edge of the half title page. Volume I has a 1/4" tear at the fore edge of the rear endpaper. A very nice looking, matching set.
