Octavo. x, 235 pages, index. 96 pages of plates at rear of book. The excavations began in 1885 but it was the work of H.E. Winlock that revealed the extensive treatment of the queens. Women who bore the titles royal wife, priestess of Hathor, and Sole Royal Ornament were buried in six individual, underground tombs surmounted by private chapels on the platform of the funerary complex of the Eleventh Dynasty king, Nebhetepre Mentuhotep II (c. 2000 BCE). A very nice clean bright copy bound in maroon cloth lettered in white, spine lettering white.endpapers are plans, previous owner's name in small lettering to upper edge of front free endpaper, in a partical pictorial dust jacket.
