About this Item
Paris: Ernest Flammarion, 1914. First Edition. Octavo (18.5cm.); contemporary blue morocco over marbled boards, gilt spine in five compartments; xxii,[23]-192pp.; illus. throughout. Boards a bit rubbed, especially at spine ends, with outward bow at fore-edge, spine leather toning to green, preliminaries foxed and stock uniformly darkened due to inferior paper quality, else Very Good and sound. Fascinating study conducted by a French civil engineer residing in Algeria, tracking the patterns and movements of a colony of ants. Perhaps in a similar fashion, in an earlier monograph, Cornetz studied the movements of members of the Adari hunting tribe. The list of books by the author printed on the half title verso also boast works on chess, spider webs, and of course no fewer than seven additional titles on ants. Seller Inventory # 8306
