What can neuroscience tell us about how the brain perceives faces? How do facial proportions change as we age? Can one judge personality simply by looking at a face? Why are some faces more attractive to us? Psychologists Vicki Bruce and Andy Young provide thought-provoking answers to these questions, using state-of-the-art science, amazing computer-manipulated graphics, and colorful paintings from the Scottish National Portrait Gallery.
This lavishly illustrated volume--featuring over 200 pictures, including fifty in full color--takes us behind the scenes of something we do a hundred times a day, revealing how we look at, and judge, human faces.

Store description
We are a small, single-owner business. We have been operating on and off since 1977 and our stock is varied, leaning towards antiquarian and 19th century with the addition of original aquatint and lithographic, or woodcut engravings. Also maps and Ephemera - in fact, anything interesting on paper really. We have in stock every item we list. We do not use stock photographs, but photograph each item individually. We very rarely use "fine" or "mint" as a description, mainly due to the age and the fact that 99.9% of what we sell has been pre-owned and therefor Fine would not be a term for a book we sell despite its fine-like appearance. We always take items back unreservedly if not in the condition as described. We always try to describe fully.…
