Item description from seller

Romains, primarily known as a poet and novelist, here promulgates his theory that humans were once able to 'see' by using the skin as well as the eyes, but that that ability atrophied through disuse. Here he recounts his efforts & experiments to re-establish the ability. Modern science remains doubtful. Small hardcover in jacket, as pictured. Light wear to book, but heavy foxing & tanning within; jacket with large chips, a few tears, smudges to a few pages. Xii, 251 pages + 2 pages ads; b/w frontispiece, a few figures. Size: Duodecimo.
