THE FAITH OF A LIBERAL. ESSAYS AND ADDRESSES ON POLITICAL PRINCIPLES AND PUBLIC POLICIES.

1924, xiii, 369pp, index. Ex-lib, extremities lightly worn, else G. The author was the President of Columbia University. From the introduction: "The word Liberal has proved so attractive that it has been given many meanings, and its possession has been fought for by widely differing groups. Historically and etymologically, the true Liberal is a believer in liberty, whether that liberty be intellectual, civil, political, economic, or religious. There was a time - and that not so long since - when the antithesis to Liberalism was Conservatism." It seems as if that situation has returned since the author wrote this book.
