Gilt lettering to spine, double ruled in gilt. Rubbing to extremities, and a spine lean. One dog-eared page found. Olive green endpapers. "With numerous illustrations showing the different parts of a boiler and engine, and nearly every make of traction engine, with a brief description of the distinctive points in each make." (title page). A little staining to top and fore-edges, but overall, tight and bright boards, with bright, clean pages, supple to the turn. 215 pp, including Index, plus 6 pages of advertising of other titles offered by the publisher. Previous owner's signature and town ("Floyd Williams, Corvallis, May 5, 1904) to front endpaper. Solid, clean copy of first edition.
