[2], i-vi, 116 pages paginated by chapter (5 chapters), illustrated with 24 plates of designs & diagrams including an original photograph of the "Laboratory Setup for Testing 400 Elements / Inch Linear Phototransistor Array". A few page corners are slightly creased or bumped. Good. First edition "Phase I of Project 20 involves a study into the feasibility of establishing a ground-based High Performance Photographic Scanning and Recording System to be used in conjunction with a 20 - 40 megabit per second secure digital communication link which is presently under development and which could become operationally available in a 2 - 5 year time period." - from the Introduction. From the library of the Program Director Edward Willett with his annotation in red ink "COPY NO. 5 EW". Fairchild Systems was a United States defense contractor. The San Francisco Chronicle described the company as "one of the legendary names of Silicon Valley" and noted that its Bay Area operations were a training ground for the engineers who went on to found Intel and other top semiconductor companies.
