8vo, original cloth, bevel edges, [xxiv], 192pp. With five chromolithograph plates handsomely printed on thick paper, 6 etchings, and numerous other illustrations in line. Folding map inserted at page 186. The Index calls for a single map leaf of Luebo Station to face page 64, but it actually appears later, between pp. 92-93. Ex-lib. With small, discreet library stamps and small bookplate inside front cover. A remarkable record of the author's journey up the Kasai River, tasked with several important objectives, one of them including the stopping of slave trading in the Luebo District.
