FORETASTE OF GLORY.

1946, 256pp. Extremities worn, else G in G, moderately worn and soiled dj, chipped at the top and bottom of the spine, else G. From the dj: "The people of Blakesburg, Kentucky, gazed upon this cataclysmic spectacle as a heavenly portent. Brought up on the fire and brimstone revelations of Fundamentalist revivals, they believed that the day of Judgment had come. Convinced that they would be snatched up to glory precipitately - or dispatched to hell at any moment - the residents of the little hill community rushed out in a frenzy of fear, repentance and reconciliation, each prepared to meet his Maker in his own way.".
