About this Item
A smart first edition of this wartime novel from Bates. First edition. Set in the Second World War, following the pilot of a Wellington Bomber who injures his arm when he crash-lands in German-occupied France and must find his crew a safe place to hide. Written by Herbert Ernest Bates, an English writer best known for his works The Darling Buds of May and Love for Lydia. In the original blue cloth binding. Externally, very smart with light shelf wear and minor fading to the spine. Original unclipped dust wrapper is sound with chipping to the extremities and minor loss to the hear of the spine. Discolouration and small marks to the board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with light age toning to the endpapers. Previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown. Very Good. Seller Inventory # 857T17
