First edition. Octavo. 277pp. Brown cloth. Tiny soil mark at foot of spine else fine in price-clipped, very good or better dust jacket with a few short edge tears and slight chipping at spine tips. African-American author's only novel, about an upwardly mobile Black family living on the Mason-Dixon Line. Issued by a vanity press, it was preceded by a number of scholarly works by the author.
