First edition, first issue with the Scribner's slug on verso of title page. Jacket is first state; $2.50 price and K in Katherine. Nearly very good in a lightly chipped, spine sunned dust wrapper with a long closed tear. This copy belonged to Elsa Spear Edwards (Byron), tipped in on front free flyleaf is a heretofore unpublished photograph by her (embossed signature) of Hemingway and his wife Pauline dated 1928 with notation by her stating that Hemingway stayed at The Spear-O-Wigwam whilst writing this book. ("Elsa Spear Edwards Byron (1896 in Big Horn, Wyoming - 1992) was an American photographer. As a young child, she learned to help her mother make photographic prints from a plate camera purchased in 1900. Her photographs were sold all over the country and greatly enlarged prints were used by the railroads to advertise train trips to Wyoming.
