This exceptionally well-preserved copy of "Faust Part 1" by Goethe (Translation by Philip Wayne) was published in 1949, being the First Printing of the Penguin edition. Early in the history of Penguin Paperbacks, the company released its paperback books with dust-jackets. An added value for this copy is the rare wrap-around paper band which is still present on the book, and which has a printed announcement of the arrangement between Penguin and D. C. Heath and Company for distribution to college classes.
