About this Item
Offered is a rare single sheet broadside (11 1/2" x 8 3/8"), in pristine condition and suitable for framing. It was printed by Dudley R. Dobie, cousin to J. Frank Dobie, in 1946. Dudley had these printed, trying to sell them in his book selling business- to what success is unknown. He reprinted these from the American Forests for April 1946, the magazine of the American Forestry Association in Washing ton, D.C. Please see all photographs, they show the original envelope the broadside came in with Dudley Dobie's writing on it, a copy of the hand written Dudley Dobie statement regarding the rarity of the broadside and its in absence in the McVicker reference of J. Frank Dobie's writings, and a copy of the original listing in Dudley Dobie's catalog. These three items are not included with the broadside. The original article under the title "My Favorite Tree" by JFD is listed in McVicker as C245 on page 112 but this little broadside is not listed in McVicker! We believe this to be a significant J. Frank Dobie rarity. From the estate of Dudley R. Dobie from San Marcos, Texas. A RARE DOBIE ITEM. Seller Inventory # 004749-4
