Special Historical Note
This edition was printed in Czechoslovakia (specifically by PZ2 Bratislava) at a time when the country was part of the Eastern Bloc. Czechoslovak state printing houses were renowned across the West for their high-quality colour and illustrated work, and many British publishers like Spring Books (an imprint associated with Paul Hamlyn) outsourced production there for excellent results at competitive prices. As a native of Czechoslovakia / Slovak region, this book holds extra personal significance ? a tangible piece of my native country?s rich printing and publishing heritage from the communist era, when technical skill and artistic talent continued to flourish despite the political climate.
