Item description from seller

London: Macmillan and Co., 1883. First edition. Original green cloth, gilt-lettered, ruled in gilt and blind, chocolate endpapers, illustrated, 669 pp., 2 pp. of ads. "Translated and edited by D'Arcy W. Thompson, With a preface by Charles Darwin". Thompson got top billing over Darwin on both the spine and the title. He was at the time just 22 years old, a scholar of Trinity College, Cambridge. A gift inscription dated 1935 on the half title; booksellers ticket (D. Wyllie & Son, Aberdeen) on the front endpaper. Very little wear, three small bits of cloth bubbling, rear endpapers just beginning to crack; cloth and paper clean. A Very Good copy.
