Contains the proceedings and resolutions of the fifth biennial session of the National Conference of Jewish Charities, established in 1899 to assist recent immigrants and aid local Jewish communities across the United States. The Conference of Jewish Social Welfare was renamed the National Conference of Jewish Communal Service in 1951. The book is a valuable source of information dealing with the socioeconomic conditions of the largest and smallest Jewish communities across the United States in the early twentieth century.
