6-1/2" x 9-1/2", xxxii + 1088pp + colophon. Book designed by Warren Chappell. Printed on off white alkaline paper and bound in sewn signatures ingreen cloth boards with black cloth backing. A commemorative anthology printed on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Alfred A. and Helen Knopf's Borzoi Books imprint. This book was presented to guests at a reception and dinner at the Hotel Astor in New York on October 29, 1965. This copy formerly belonged to the writer Edith Iglauer, a/k/a Mrs. Philip Hamburger, and comes complete with the program for the dinner, including the complete eight-course dinner menu and wine list, as well as a copy of the guest list showing seating arrangements. A unique and interesting copy of this book. In pale green slipcase, with a yellow card bearing the "Borzoi" logo, beneath which is printed "1915-1965" and, beneath another decoration, "Fifty Years"; and there is another printed plate with the title block is pasted on the front surface (i.e., opposite the book's spine). The front and the spine have been decorated with silver foil and green decoration and, on the spine, elaborate decorative title block. The slipcase is age toned and a bit faded and soiled. The jacket, which remains bright, shows minor edge wear and is age toned at the spine, where it was not protected by the slipcase, and minor soiling towards the fore margin. Binding is square and tight. Pages are clean and unmarked. Seller Inventory # 002438
