First US edition without dust jacket. Book is mildly soiled overall with bumped corners and a worn spot/tear to corner of head of spine. Mild discoloration along edges. Gilt on cover and spine is nice and bright with slight wear to publisher's name at bottom. White spot on spine. Endpapers foxed with previous owner's name in ink with 1942 date, and bookplate on top corner of front pastedown. Some separation at half title and rear free endpaper but otherwise binding is tight.
