Lovely copy of Audre Lorde's first book of poetry, published by friend Diane Di Prima, who also wrote an introduction, for her Poets Press in 1968. 32 pages staplebound in printed wraps with a beautiful cover. Binding is solid. Interior is clean and free of marks except perhaps a very very faint smudge to the last page, mentioned only out of desire to be exhaustive in our descriptions. Minor sense of toning to margins. A couple of teeny dot stains on the back cover, and some very light rubbing to parts of covers. Small crease to the upper right corner of front cover. Shallow but visible bump to the bottom corner extending from the back cover in to about half of the interior pages, deeply relegated to the margins by the foot of the spine, but still of note. Small bump at the bottom edge of back panel not effecting interior. One page, right in the middle where the staples are visible, has a small bump in the upper left corner, to that page only. Spine of wraps lightly rubbed. Book now protected in stiff mylar. All condition notes aside, still a very attractive copy of this uncommon and powerful artifact which launched a very significant career in poetry and writing.
