xvi, 278, 1 (ads.) pp. 1879. First edition. A very good minus, tight copy in original publisher's brown cloth - gilt embossed to the spine and an embossed (in black) vignette to the front board. Grey-brown endpapers - faded to the peripheries. Two contemporaneous blue ink oval library stamps to the title page and a further couple to the margins of a couple of pages (pages 117 and 157). No ex-library markings to the cloth case (exterior) and so in all very mild library markings. Light spotting to the endpapers (including the title page) and slight spotting to the fore-edges. A very good minus scarce first edition.
