Dedication "To Adolf Hitler, without whom this book would never have been perpetrated". Scarce. This wartime guide, First Aid for First Aiders: Or, “What’ll I do?”, mixes first aid advice with comic rhymes and witty illustrations. Created in 1939 by Heather “Herry” Perry, a celebrated graphic artist behind iconic London Underground posters, and fellow medic David York, the book reflects Perry’s dual life as an artist and nurse. She served as a Voluntary Aid Detachment (VAD) medic during the war and remained on the UK register of Assistant Nurses after 1945, continuing her work in healthcare alongside her artistic career. The designs features Perry’s distinctive black line drawings and with bright red ink highlighting for impact and comic effect. The embossed figure on the cover is said to be of York (description from the RCN). RightWayUp Books aims to provide accurate and detailed descriptions.
