This was prepared for the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission, Division of Biology and Medicine. This report has an Introduction and Sections on Nature of Radioactive Aerosols, Radiation Dose Pattern from Inhaled Radionuclides, Long-Term Dose-Response Studies, Pathogenesis of Radiation-Induced Diseases, Therapy for Inhaled Radionuclides, and a five part Appendix which includes Publication of Technical Reports and Publications in the Open Literature. The prime objective of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission - Lovelace Foundation Fission Product Inhalation Program is to develop knowledge that will contribute to an improved understanding of the biological consequences of inhaling radionuclides, such as might be released in the event of nuclear accidents. The ultimate goal is to establish the relationship between the radiation dose pattern resulting from various levels and types of exposures and the resulting biological response. The primary experimental subject in the program was the beagle dog. Presumed First Edition, First printing thus.
