About this Item
First edition. Hardcover. Top edge slightly foxed, an ownership signature on the top corner of the front free endpaper, bookseller's label on the fixed endpaper, cloth fore-edges slightly mottled, o/w very good in a good (partially) price-clipped dustjacket with some mild soiling, professionally closed small tears and restored chips (none affecting any lettering). Jacket illustration by Bip Pares. Macmillan Overseas Library notation on the back flap of the jacket, making it a Colonial issue. A satirical travel-romance, told in the form of letters. Archibald Gordon Macdonell (1895-1941) was a fine, now much under-rated English journalist and writer of novels, short stories and biographies, who served in the First World War, and then produced an interesting body of work in his relatively short life. Now best remembered for two minor classics of evocative satire/humour, "England Their England" and "Autobiography of a Cad". Seller Inventory # 32275
