First edition. Volume I only. Tall octavo. xxi, 531pp. Two heavy bumps, causing an 1¼" tear in the rear board and pastedown, and a couple of other tiny tears (which have all been neatly strengthened), thus near very good in a worn and toned, near very good dust jacket with small chips and several white paint spots on the spine. From the library of Tony Award-winning actress Marian Seldes, with a gift inscription on the front fly: "To Marian with all my love for a Happy Christmas affectionately Tony xx New York 1975." Seldes has laid in two newspaper articles (as she was prone to do) which are present but have caused some offsetting to one page spread.
