Float Poetry: Re-Verse the Rivers

Symbolizing the ebb and flow of life itself, rivers have been a mainstay of literature for millennia, transcending utilitarian purposes beyond sustaining and enabling the prospering of humanity.Poets have often waxed lyrical about rivers. Pens oar through the river’s course, in a tide that resonates with the life and journey of rivers, re-versing and reversing a brighter fate of rivers, to enrich this planet with this precious element, water, bestowed upon us. Float Poetry:Re-verse the riverswitnesses the confluence of muses meandering towards oceans, bounding in verses; verses that rhyme, gushing with a universal thought, wherein 73 prolific poets from across India and abroad, have voiced pleas and implorations for the cause of re-versing rivers. Visually impaired middle school pupils of The School for the blind, Shevapet, Salem, have contributed, envisioning cleaner rivers, as also veteran senior poets and a non-vocal, autistic young poet, all highlighting the importance of rivers. The anthology is compiled, curated and edited by author, educationist and International Reuel Prize for Poetry (2017) recipient Geethanjali Dilip, and the extraordinarily talented, young, and emerging poet, Akash Sagar Chouhan. Lopa Banerjee, a versatile writer has embellished the book with her exquisite ‘Foreword”. This collection is a concerted effort to‘re-verse’ the relationship between rivers and human beings, which has been subject to politicization via geographical disputes and physical exploitation.
