Published posthumously in the year following his death. The work was at the proofs stage. Sir Henry Collett served in the Indian Army for many years. After being wounded early in his career, he sought less active interests, settling eventually on botany. He was one of the founders of the Simla Naturalists Society. With an In Memoriam by Sir W Thiselton-Dyer, Director of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew and the introduction by W Botting Hemsley, Keeper of the Herbarium and Library at Kew. With 200 illustrations in text by Miss M Smith and a map. Bound in the original green cloth with titles and gilt illustration to the spine. A little wear to the spine ends and corners. A few marks to the boards. Inside, endpapers tanned with loss to the top corner of the ffep. More modern bookplate on the inside cover and a smaller one plus handwritten signature on ffep - all same person. Text clean. 8vo, lxviii + 652pp, 1.06kg.
