This covetable little book, originally published in 1778 by Francis Newbery and Thomas Carnan, the son and stepson of John Newbery, had been issued by their father at least twenty years earlier. The destructive fingers of little riddle-readers have been the means of causing thousands of copies of this amusing book to disapper, and to obtain an original copy is now impossible. Reprinted as part of the Illustrated Shilling Series of Forgotten Children's Books from the 1778 edition. Binding is tight and the book is internally very clean. Dutch floral boards have rubbing to the edges. Seller Inventory # 275718
