My Foreign Country Trevor Fishlock's Britain

After years of adventurous living and writing around the world, the distinguished foreign correspondent Trevor Fishlock travels in search of the spirit of Britain. He emerges with a vivid and provocative portrait of his native land as it leans upon its long history and draws breath.
From the coast he strikes inland, through England, north, south, east and west, to Wales, Scotland and Ireland, in an exploration in which incident, comedy, and past and present form a grand mosaic.
Here is Britain in all its subtlety and variety, proud of its marvellous saga, uncertain of its future, wrestling with its anxieties. It is an original and multi-layered story, a lively narrative of great descriptive power, peppered with curiosities, shot through with humour and perceptive observation, the outcome of a journey of discovery and surprise.

Trevor Fishlock has been a resident foreign correspondent for The Times in India and the United States, and for The Daily Telegraph in Russia.
