Portuguese
Portuguese is one of the world's major languages, with approximately 230 million speakers. In addition to Brazil and Portugal, it is also a major lingua franca in Portugal's former colonial possessions in Africa. Portuguese is a descendant of Latin, as are Italian, French, Spanish and Romanian.
