Forensic Psychology in Prisons and Probation

Forensic Psychology in Prisons and Probation provides a broad overview of practice in the field by discussing the contribution of forensic psychology in the context of His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS).

Divided into three parts, the book begins by considering the role of assessment and intervention before discussing the specific requirements of specialist populations. The book then explores how forensic psychologists can work with the system. Each chapter draws on core psychological theory and research, including HMPPS-generated research outcomes and innovative practice, and focuses on the positive impact that psychological practice can have alongside implications for the future.

Bringing together experienced practitioners from within HMPPS, the book provides a must-read overview of how forensic psychologists can manage offenders and forensic services more widely. This book is a chance to hear from HMPPS psychologists, applying theory to practice across HMPPS.
