With a half title page, a map of Europe to the front of the book, a photograph frontispiece and eight monochrome plates. Collated complete. An interesting work regarding the forests of France, and how they have evolved throughout their long history. With simple explanations of forestry methods and techniques, alongside detailed descriptions of individual forests and their characteristics. Featuring forests which have played important historical roles, ones which are particularly beautiful, and others with unique qualities. With a bookplate for one, 'Peter M. Scott', to the front paste-down, and an ink inscription from the previous owner dated 1955, to the front blank. Rebound in quarter morocco. Externally, excellent with little shelf wear. Bookplate to the front paste-down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages very bright and clean with just the odd spot. Spotting to the front blank. Previous owner's ink signature to the front blank. Fine.
