Add to basketFirst Edition, first printing (Number Line to 1). The first printing of Judy Blume's 'first novel for adults' is extremely rare. I found one other for sale on the Internet, a signed copy selling for $750.00. The novel went on to have many later printings. You can see the covers of the book in the photos. They are very clean. The black lettering on the spine is nicely bright. There are a couple of little spots of rubbing at each of the spine ends. The cover edges are in excellent shape, no rubbing. Each of the four corners has a small spot of superficial rubbing. There's also a very tiny spot of superficial rubbing above the rear bottom edge. The page edges are mostly clean. There's one small tan spot off the top of the middle page edge, and one speck-sized tan spot at the middle of the middle page edge. The spine does have a moderate forward lean. However, the binding is very, very solid with nicely tight pages from cover to cover, and nicely tight covers as well. The interior of the book is in very good condition. The end papers are clean. They do seem to blend some purple and blue, lighter around the edges, the impact of some sun toning. The pages are quite clean and bright. I saw one very light, small spot at the blank margin of two consecutive pages, and one small tan spot off the bottom edge of one page, nothing near the print. The aforementioned tan spot at the top of the middle page edge can be seen (as a tan speck) under the top corner of 17 consecutive pages. The same is the case with the other referenced tan spot on the middle page edge, it peeks over the outer edge of 2 consecutive pages (I'd be happy to provide any extra photos, just specify what you'd like to see). I didn't see any conspicuous creasing, no turned-down corner creases, no placeholder creases. I saw a small number of minor crinkles, also a few tiny nicks off a top or bottom edge. I didn't see any tears. There are no markings in the book. No attachments of any kind. And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere. I've conservatively rated the dust jacket Fair even though I think it presents better. It has a fairly small loss at the top edge of the spine, also a small triangular loss at the spine's bottom edge. There's a tear coming up from the bottom edge at the juncture of the front and spine, another off the bottom edge of the rear cover. The jacket is pretty clean, a little toning off the front covers edges. There's also a light crease on the spine. The flaps are in solid shape, clean, light toning off a few edges, a light, thin crease above the rear flap's bottom corner, no tears. The jacket is NOT price-clipped, not clipped at all. I've always had it in a fitted protective cover. From the dust jacket: 'The bed is brass, covered with a patch-work quilt, and 'nice and firm,' Michael says, 'in case you're interested.' Katherine is interested. From this night on their life is a love story. But Katherine is in love with love, and Michael is in love with Katherine. Judy Blume's blithe and telling novel about men and women loving-- not only Katherine and Michael, but their suburban friends as well-- promises to be a revelation. Judy Blume, one of the most popular writers in America today, has written eleven books for young people. Forever is her first book for adults.' From its Wikipedia page: 'Forever. is a 1975 novel by Judy Blume dealing with teenage sexuality. Because of the novel's content it has been the frequent target of censorship and appears on the American Library Association list of the 100 Most Frequently Challenged Books of 1990-2000 at number 7. In 2024 the book was banned in Utah and parts of Texas. The three ellipsis points at the end of the title are part of the title, and relate to the central theme of the novel. BBC News listed Forever on its list of the 100 most influential novels. The book was adapted for American television in 1978, featuring Stephanie Zimbalist as Katherine and Dean Butler as Michael.'.
