McClure (dated 1832) and William McAlister (who notes he purchased it from McClure in 1834 for $1.00. McAlister's name is penned on the fore-edge of the textblock; the blank leaf behind the flyleaf bears the name James McAlister (dated march 28, 1864)--presumably a son?
