Author Chuck Smith is a filmmaker who made a documentary about Bess in 1999, also called "Forrest Bess: Key to the Riddle." Forrest Bess was a painter, fisherman, hermit, & pseudo-hermaphrodite (by means of self-surgery) who lived his life in obscurity at a bait camp on the Gulf coast of Texas. From 1949 through 1967, Bess showed at the Betty Parsons Gallery in New York, alongside artists such as Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothko. Today his paintings fetch six figures when they come up for sale. Ships fast with tracking. International orders will require extra charges to ship due to the size and weight of the book; we will contact you for authorization.
