8vo. [6], vii-xv, [3], 3-216 pp. Blue cloth with silver lettering on the spine; orange topstain. Price of $3.50 on the front flap of the dust jacket. Illustrated by a map and eight black and white photograph plates. Oliver Knight's copy, with his name on the front flyleaf. Knight was a Professor of Journalism at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and was a collector of books on Western Americana. Adams 1861. Rister records the history of Fort Griffin, once the center of a village of Buffalo hunters, a landmark on the Western Cattle trail, and a U.S. Army outpost. The book also touches on outlaws and gunmen of West Texas. A Near Fine book with a touch of foxing to the textblock; dust jacket with minor edge wear and fading to the spine panel.
