This is a first edition, first printing of Isaac Asimov's Forward the Foundation, published by Doubleday in April 1993. Completed shortly before Asimov's death, the novel is the concluding volume of his Foundation saga and follows Hari Seldon through the later years of his life as he refines psychohistory and confronts the political and personal pressures of a collapsing Galactic Empire. This copy contains the correct first-printing number line ('2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10,' with '2' denoting the first printing for Doubleday at the time) and the original jacket design by Bill Larkin. The hardcover presents well, with clean boards, tight binding, and bright, unmarked pages. Burgundy endpapers remain fresh, and only minor scattered foxing specks appear on the spine cloth. The dust jacket is Very Good: unclipped, with light rubbing, faint soiling, a small closed crease to the rear panel, and modest edgewear, but no major tears and strong, unfaded metallic lettering. Overall, this is an attractive example of Asimov's final novel and an essential entry for collectors of the Foundation universe. Isaac Asimov (1920-1992) was one of the most influential science fiction and popular science writers of the twentieth century. Author of more than 470 books, he helped define the genre through the Foundation, Robot, and Empire series, each shaping modern conceptions of artificial intelligence, galactic civilization, and speculative futures. His clear, engaging prose and expansive imagination earned him the title of Grand Master of Science Fiction and cemented his legacy as a foundational figure in the field.
