Contains 416 printed pages of text with monochrome maps and photographs throughout. Cover and end papers dusted with small specks of powdered paint, dust marking to the closed page edges. Very Good condition book in Very Good condition price clipped dust wrapper with chips, creases and rubs. THIS is a very good condition hardcover in a like, (removable) mylar-protected dust jacket. The spine is straight, binding tight, corners sharp, and is internally clean and NOT marked. Gold gilt spine lettering bright; dust jacket is complete, bright, and fresh in all respects. 416 pages. Quoted in part from the inside flap: "The growth of the present omnibus volume has been natural. Some years ago A.H. Reed recorded the first story of his adventures and experiences in Farthest East - a trip on foot round the coast from Gisborne to the Bay of Plenty. He went far off the beaten track and met many interesting people, Maori and Pakeha, in these out-of-the-way places. The trip to the east coast was followed by another to the Farthese North and these two books met with an immediate success. A few years later, Mr. Reed made an unusual journey to Farthest West, this time accompanied by his nephew, A.W. Reed. Starting from the western arm of Lake Manapouri they spent eight days in the heavily-forested, precipitous country between Lake Manapouri and Dusky Sound where they embarked on M.V. Alert and spent several days visiting the sounds of Fiordland. The story of the last remaining corner was recorded in Farthest South. This was a trip round the southern shore of Southland, from Tautuku Beach to Te Wae Wae Bay.
