Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. First Edition. Gift quality first edition hardcover in pine green paper covered boards with bright spine title, sharp tips and lightly bumped spine ends. Tidy gift ded on fep "1963 To Jean, from Auntie May and Uncle Louey with Love." 160pp text with a b/w frontispiece and 22 delicate vingnettes throughout the tight, bright, clean smelling text. Original, price-clipped color illustrated dust jacket has a small chip at head of spine, displays well in new mylar. An uncommon Judith Campbell novel in which three of the Merrow sisters, Judy, Kit, and Due, spend their days longing for ponies of their own, although their small sister Fiona thinks nothing of horses at all. 'Four Ponies' tells how, despite restricted funds, they eventually acquire Chameleon, Umslopogaas, and Benjamin; of the difficulties they encounter and eventually overcome with these ponies, and of how Chirrup the Shetland wins Fiona's attention in the end. The children are ordinary, inexperienced riders, their ponies rough and unschooled but they are lucky enough to have Colonel Paisley to advise and help them, bringing them at last a modicum of success and all the fun and comradeship of the Pony Club.
