About this Item

Description:

1912 Everyman's Library first edition thus. Uncommon.

Joint publishing credits by Dent and Dutton are on the front matter pages. Dutton (only) publisher's credit is printed at the base of the spine, so it is assumed the book was bound and distributed by Dutton in the US. Original sheets were printed in the UK, with a Letchworth, Temple Press Printers credit at the back of the book.

No statement of printing date or edition is on the title pages or on the title page verso. This in itself is the primary first edition point. On later printings, a statement of later printing was included on the title page verso. The prior owner's name and date (1915) is written in pencil on the front free endpaper.

Condition of the book is Very Good Plus. The binding is straight and sound. Inside pages are complete and unmarked. The main condition issue is fading of the spine titles on the book's exterior.
