About the Author

Renowned artist R.O. Blechman published his first book, The Juggler of Our Lady, in 1953 and went on to work as an animated filmmaker for such television programs as Sesame Street. He operated an animation studio for twenty-seven years and his unmistakable illustrations have frequently graced the cover of The New Yorker. Among his many honors are a 1983 Emmy Award for animation, 1999 induction into The Art Directors Hall of Fame, and a 2003 exhibition of his films at The Museum of Modern Art.
